One-Upping the Bard: Verdi's 'Otello'

THE HIT SINGLE: Desdemona's "Now in the Dark Night"

The only, truly romantic moment between Otello and Desdemona (tenor Roberto Alagana and soprano Inva Mula) takes place at the end of Act One, with the soaring, yet tender love duet "Già, nella notte densa," as the two recall how they first met and fell in love.

THE B SIDE: Iago's "Credo”

Iago (baritone Seng-Hyoun Ko) is one of the most disturbing villains in all of opera. He first reveals his true nature in the dark and shocking monologue known as his "Credo," singing, "I believe in a cruel God."
